Making money online isn’t as tricky as it could appear, but there are some things that you will need if you are looking to earn money on the internet.

1. An Open Mind





For a lot of people, having an online business and earning money on the internet is a whole new experience. The old paradigm "go to school, get good grades, and get a good job", is what most of have been conditioned to believe is our only path to success





We now know that this is completely not the case.





Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of proof right now in our society. It's difficult when we look around. People are being laid off everywhere, while others are losing their retirement money, and so many others have their homes in foreclosure.





The crazy thing is that most of these people are people who did exactly what I stated above!





They studied hard and got good grades. They went off to college. Then, they got themselves a "good" job. Why is it that they are not having the success they worked so difficult for? Why are they struggling to pay their mortgage?





Let me tell you why.





Things have changed. The old ideas we were taught don't work anymore, and as a society, we haven't discovered that yet. Okay. I'm not implying that if you go to school, get good grades, go off to college and get a good job that that's bad. I’m just saying that it isn’t the only "formula for success" as many would like us to believe.





Starting your own online business isn't always easy. Some of the people in your life will probably think you are downright crazy. People will frequently say things like "Is this such a good idea? The economy isn't very good."





Most entreprenuers feel extremely passionate that it's a good idea because they would so much rather invest in themselves and in thier own business, rather than depending on someone else to decide thier fate.





Personally, I don't want to invest my time and energy into a job I don't really like to build someone else's business, only to worry when I might be laid off...you?





This is absolutely why it is so crucial to have an open mind. There are some amazing things you can do with your online business and it will provide you with so much freedom, but you must be willing to let go of some of the old, conditioned beliefs that we have all had at one point in our lives.





If you don’t let go of those old beliefs, what is possible online will seem impossible to you. If something seems impossible to you, well then it may as well be, because our minds are very powerful – more so than we usually realize.





What we believe in our lives becomes our reality…but that’s a topic for another day!





2. A Willingness To Learn





Becoming a successful marketer online is going to require that you learn how to market, from the fundamentals to the advanced techniques and everything in between. More than likely, these are skills you probably don't have right now, but with a desire to learn, they are skills you will soon posess and they will be something you can not put a price tag on.





Being able to earn money on the internet is really no different than anything else we do in life. Remember the first time you picked up a hockey stick. My guess is you didn't make the all-star team your first week, but after practicing the fundamentals and the skills, I bet you did alright.





The same can be applied to almost anything in life. It really doesn't matter if was basketball, baseball, hockey, softball, a musical instrument or whatever. The concept is still the same.





First learn the fundamentals. Then practice and learn to implement and you will succeed. No short cuts here!





3. Determination & Drive





Before you begin to earn money on the internet, you must be sure that you are willing to do whatever you need to in order to be successful. I'm sure there will be bumps in the road, just as there are with anything new in life.





What's crucial is that you have the determination and the drive to be successful. That is what will get you through all of those ups and downs.





Think of it this way. If you aren't determined and don't have that drive, then the first bump in the road might be just enough to send you back to your steady paycheck that you are used to. Things will go back to the way they were and nothing will have changed. This is alright, if that is what you really want, but is it?





4. Leadership & Training





This one is so key. Let’s say you wanted to become an electrician. Would you go around just changing light fixtures and messing around with fuse boxes when you have no idea what you are doing?





I hope not.





You would go through the proper training and then probably become an apprentice to another electrician.





That is the way in which we learn. We find a good mentor who can provide us with the right training. A person who genuinely cares about our well-being. Someone who understands our goals and wants to help us reach them.





Please make sure not to sell yourself short here.





Do your due diligence. Look for someone that you can work with and who wants to work with you. Look for someone who can offer you great training and guidance. This will cut months, even years, off of your learning curve.





There are no short cuts in this business, but getting the proper training can save you plenty of headaches in the long run so do your homework!
