It’s 5:00 AM. You hear that dreadful sound coming from your alarm clock. You get out of bed and go take a shower. Then you help get the kids up and ready for school. Then you find yourself rushing around trying to get ready for work.



You are lucky if you have time for a piece of fruit or a bowl of cereal. You figure you’ll grab a cup of coffee on the way to work.



Oh no! You've cut your commute too close again. If you don’t leave in the next ten minutes, your trip goes from forty minutes to over an hour. It’s all about timing the traffic.



You get to work a few minutes late, hoping no one notices. You turn on your computer and read through all of the tedious emails that are waiting for you.



Time to determine what your workday looks like. Paperwork, meetings, more paperwork, and more meetings. You start to wonder if there is some way to leave your job, while still providing for yourself and your family.



I can tell you that the answer to that question is a definite yes.



The wonderful world of internet marketing has changed the rules.



It has created a level playing field. It allows us to operate our own business right from the comfort of our own home, or from wherever we choose.



Now, if you're looking for a job, where you will get a weekly paycheck and have someone "looking over your shoulder" while you work at home, you probably don’t need to read on.



But, if you want the opportunity to have real financial freedom, real time freedom, you ought listen to everything I am about to tell you.



Legitimate Work From Home



Let's go over a couple of crucial basic concepts first.



Of all the people you know, what percentage of them are on the internet every day? I think we can agree it's probably a fairly large number.



That's exactly why the internet has changed things forever. Every week, every month, and every year, more and more people spend more time online.



Each year, more people are shopping online.



More people are going online to get the news.



More poeple are joining social networks each year.



I’m sure you know that Facebook gets the 2nd highest quantity of traffic on the internet. As of right now, Google is the only site that gets more traffic. All of us are spending more time on the internet. Period.



The internet can provide you the opportunity to get in front of all of these people. This is why learning the skills necessary to market online is so critical and can provide you with both time and financial freedom.



"Job security" is the other concept I would like to talk about. I remember back to when I first started a home business. There were quite a few people who thought I was a little bit crazy.



They were worried that I was getting involved in some sort of scam or something. Nothing could have been farther from the truth, but fear of the unknown can make people say things like that.



Unfortunately, network marketing is widely misunderstood and many people make snap judgements based on things they’ve heard from others. Sometimes, in my experience, they don’t even know why they think it’s so bad!.



The truth is that I have more security because no one can take away what I have built. Nobody can decide tomorrow that I am expendable. Nobody can put me into the next group of layoffs. I am in control of what happens to me and my business



I don't have to spend my valuable time going to a job I loathe and then worry about losing it. Of course there is some type of security in a steady paycheck and many people don’t want to take that leap of faith. It can be scary, and for some, maybe too scary.



However, you are still reading this, so you must believe on some level that there is a better way. You don’t have to live paycheck to paycheck and you can work from home.



You can have a legitimate home business. You can spend more time with your kids. You get to set your own schedule. You can take vacations when you want.



How Do You Know What’s A Legitimate Work From Home Opportunity?



Trust me. I know how many opportunities you see online every day. Who can you believe? What’s real? What’s legitimate?



Well, here are a few guidelines to follow that may hopefully help you make your decision easier.



1. Do you have to spend any money? You know the saying, "You get what you pay for;" well, if you pay nothing, guess what you are going to get?



There are many people who feel that if they have to spend money to start an online business, then it's a scam. I can't say I've ever really understood that mentality.



Let's pretend we are talking about a traditional offline business. What business are you aware of that doesn't require any capital to start?



Exactly.



I'm not suggesting to just give your money to anyone who asks for it, but be ready to invest some money and that doesn't meant it's not legitimate. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.



2. Are they promising you thousands of dollars in your first 30 days with essentially no work involved? Big red flag here. First of all, it’s rare to come off the street and be a success in 30 days.



This industry does provide a great platform to make a very lucrative income in a relatively short period of time. However, be prepared for it to take longer than 30 days to be able to quit your job, and you will actually have to do work.



3. Don’t be afraid if you have to fill out an application. This one you should welcome. This means that the opportunity you're looking at doesn’t just let "anyone" in.



Don't necessarily shun this, because it can be good for you. This means they are serious entrepreneurs looking for qualified leads, and this will help ensure you will attract more qualified consultants in the future onto your team.



4. When you're looking for a mentor who will be your sponsor, look for someone who is a leader and who is serious about this business. Try to find someone you feel comfortable with and connect with, and who will be there to guide you and help you with your business.



The last piece of advice I can give is to do your due diligence and don’t be afraid to listen to your gut. Whether your gut is saying something or someone is really good or really bad, it’s usually right.



Don't forget to always do your due diligence every step of the way though. Online, you will find many legitimate work from home opportunities that will provide you with the ability to start your own online home business. Be open-minded and don’t be afraid to learn about something new.
